Things to Do in Nova Scotia

The Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley Region of Nova Scotia is home to the highest recorded tides in the world. Twice a day, every day, 160 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out of the bay - that’s more than the combined flow of all the freshwater rivers on our planet. Take a whale watching cruise in the Bay of Fundy, which sees 15 species of whales come to mate and play. Visit nearby Hall’s Harbour, where the tide can drop the height of a four-storey building, and walk on the ocean floor, keep your eyes open and you can spot seals from the shore.

Nestled between two parallel mountain ranges, the Annapolis Valley is one of Canada’s best fruit-growing regions, with several hundred varieties of apples being grown here. These fertile soils produce lush farms, more than 20 types of grapes and award-winning vineyards. Nova Scotia is home to the greatest number of farmers’ markets per capita in Canada, so be sure to visit a market or two, and take some time to pick your own berries at one of the many nearby U-Pick farms.

The Mi’kmaq are native to this region, and their art, music, language and spirituality are never far away. Heritage sites celebrate the rich Mi'kmaq culture, the earliest European settlements in North America, and the stunning natural history of the region.  Explore the diverse history of Nova Scotia by visiting some of the many heritage sites.

Nearby Wolfville is home to Acadia University, Wolfville Farmers’ Market, first-class dining, performing arts concerts, festivals and events such as Mud Creek Days and the Deep Roots Music Festival.

If you are coming to enjoy the great outdoors, there’s something for everyone. Whether it’s the famous Cape Split hiking trail, or a more leisurely walking trail, a round or two of golf, or an energetic cycling tour, you can find them all, and so much more.
